Send Money to New Zealand from India
NZD SWIFT wire transfers for student visa support, university tuition, and family maintenance. RBI-compliant under LRS, competitive NZD rates, no hidden charges.
Student Visa Financial Proof
New Zealand student visa applicants need to show financial evidence covering tuition and living costs (NZD 15,000 per year as a general benchmark). Transferring funds to a New Zealand bank account is one way to satisfy this requirement.
University Tuition in NZD
Universities of Auckland, Otago, Victoria Wellington, and Canterbury accept tuition in NZD. We process direct transfers to New Zealand university accounts with proper LRS documentation.
SWIFT in 2-4 Business Days
Wire transfers to New Zealand bank accounts typically arrive in 2 to 4 business days via SWIFT. Major NZ banks including ANZ NZ, ASB, BNZ, Westpac NZ, and Kiwibank receive international transfers reliably.
NZ Account Number Format
New Zealand bank accounts use a 15 to 16 digit format (XX-XXXX-XXXXXXXX-XX). For international wire transfers, you also need the bank's SWIFT/BIC code. New Zealand does not use IBAN.

Common Questions
What bank details do I need to send money to New Zealand?
New Zealand uses a unique 15 to 16 digit account number format (typically shown as XX-XXXX-XXXXXXXX-XX, representing the bank, branch, account, and suffix). For international wire transfers, you also need the bank's SWIFT/BIC code. New Zealand does not use IBAN. Ask your recipient to provide the full account number exactly as shown on their bank statement, along with their bank's SWIFT code.
How long does a wire transfer from India to New Zealand take?
SWIFT transfers from India to New Zealand typically arrive in 2 to 4 business days. New Zealand's time zone is significantly ahead of India (NZT is approximately 6.5 to 7.5 hours ahead of IST), so transfers initiated in the afternoon in India may only begin processing in New Zealand the following business day. Plan accordingly for time-sensitive payments like tuition deadlines.
Does New Zealand have a blocked account requirement like Germany?
No. New Zealand does not require a blocked account equivalent for student visas. Instead, the New Zealand student visa asks applicants to show proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition and living costs. This can be demonstrated through bank statements, scholarship letters, or proof of parental income. Some students choose to transfer funds to a New Zealand bank account before or after arrival as part of their financial evidence. We can assist with that transfer.
What documents are needed for a New Zealand education remittance?
You need your passport, PAN card, and Form A2 (we fill this together). For tuition payments to a university: the offer letter or Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) issued by the New Zealand institution, and the university fee invoice showing the NZD amount due. For living expense transfers to a student's personal NZ account: a self-declaration confirming the relationship and purpose.
Is TCS applicable on NZD transfers to New Zealand?
From April 2026, TCS applies only on LRS remittances above Rs. 10 lakh per financial year. Below that threshold, no TCS is deducted. For education remittances above Rs. 10 lakh sent directly to a recognised institution, 2% TCS applies. For transfers to a student's personal bank account or for other purposes like family maintenance, 5% TCS applies above Rs. 10 lakh. TCS can be adjusted against your income tax liability or claimed as a refund when filing your annual returns.
Can I send money to New Zealand for a family member's living expenses?
Yes. LRS permits maintenance of close relatives abroad as a fully permitted purpose. You can send regular or one-time transfers to cover your family member's living expenses in New Zealand. The documentation is straightforward: your passport, PAN, Form A2, and a self-declaration of relationship. There is no restriction on transfer frequency, as long as the cumulative annual total stays within the USD 250,000 LRS limit.
